Since we are in the Valpolicella Orientale, our Amarone is “differently complex”: a wine that comes from limey soils offers intense spiced notes of black pepper and wild herbs. It’s a wine that needs time after being uncorked to fully bloom: you have to be patient.
Tiziano Castagnedi
A winery in which the four brothers feel they are vineyard tenders first and foremost, because their true treasures are the vines.
In 1989 the brothers made a bold decision by purchasing the Tenuta Monti Garbi estate: over 50 hectares cultivated in an extraordinary natural context, between the gently-sloping valleys of Mezzane and Illasi, and one of the most technologically advanced wineries in Valpolicella.
Armando, Tiziano, Paolo and Massimo Castagnedi are four brothers who have inherited from their father their one great passion: their vineyards. All engaged in the family business, today they take care of every aspect of the winery.
With over 100 hectares cultivated and cutting-edge cellars, the company focuses on the production of great wines such as Amarone and Valpolicella. Today the most representative wines are Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Monti Garbi, which takes its name from the same location (Garbo in Veneto means harsh) and two selections of Amarone, of which the Campo dei Gigli is the flagship of Tenuta Sant’Antonio, a limited edition Amarone that comes from the company’s oldest vineyard.
