Our Amarone is made following all the canons of traditional Amarone, with that bright color, structure, body and drinkability that today’s consumer demands.
Alberto Zenato
“The soul in Lugana and the heart in Valpolicella”: these are the twin identities that inspire the Zenato winery.
It was 1960 when Sergio Zenato decided to invest in careful management and enhancement of the area’s potential: 95 hectares, in the most suitable areas of Lugana and in the Valpolicella Classica. “The soul in Lugana and the heart in Valpolicella”: two faces, one white and the other one red, representative of quality wines that are born from a passion for the local area and its history, and from a family tradition that for over 60 years has valorized local varieties.
Sergio Zenato’s commitment is now carried on by his wife Carla and their children Alberto and Nadia. In Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella the winery owns 35 hectares of vineyards managed with Guyot pruning.
Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina are the predominant varieties. This is where Amarone Zenato was born and Ripassa comes to life, an intuition by Sergio Zenato, who rediscovered an ancient method of vinification of Valpolicella. The interest in indigenous varietals has also given rise to two wines marked by elegance and character: Cresasso, obtained from 100% Corvina, and Recioto, a sweet wine obtained from dried Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grapes.
